The mirror show, rebuilt — a draconic boogeyman that copies your face, speaks in your voice turned monstrous, and four more scenes of dread. This app is only the mirror. The cast deck with the video pads and sounds stays in the original HauntFX, exactly as it was.
1
Pick a scene below. The phone becomes the stage — this setup screen disappears.
2
Then turn on Screen Mirroring (Control Center) to the projector or TV.
3
Run the show from carved stones on the picture itself. Nothing on screen is labelled — the audience sees only the haunt.

DIRECT THE DREAD
TensionHow often the show scares on its own, and how hard.
Auto-HauntUnscripted moments while you do nothing: knocks, footsteps, a doorknob turning, whispers, the monster lunging out of a long silence.
Storm sound bedLow rain and wind under everything, from the moment the show starts.
Starts in The Monster. Enter before you start Screen Mirroring, so the audience never sees this screen.
Camera and mic run only inside the show — the camera only in The Monster, the mic only while you hold the talk stone. Nothing is recorded, nothing leaves the phone. Triple-tap the picture at any time for the KIDS panic screen.
HOW TO HAUNT
THE GOLDEN RULE
Enter the show first, then start Screen Mirroring (Control Center → Screen Mirroring). Mirror the phone screen — do not use an AirPlay cast button; this show is a mirror, not a cast. When you exit, the picture fades to black before this setup screen returns, so stop mirroring while it is black. The audience never sees a control.
THE HIDDEN CONTROLS — A MAP
Every control on the projected picture is a carved stone or the moon. No words, no buttons — but here is exactly where they live:
MOON — hold 1s = these instructions, over blackEXIT stone — tap: fade to black, then setup returnsSCENE STONES — bolt · rain · monster · ghost · eyes. The lit glyph is the live sceneTALK STONE — hold to speak as the monster
The ember dot on the talk stone is your only status light: green = the monster is copying your face, amber = it is acting on its own (no face found), red = camera unavailable — it still performs, it just won't copy you.
The talk stone glows red while your voice is live. The mic is stone dead the instant you let go.
GESTURES — YOUR OTHER HAND
Swipe left / right across the picture — change scene.
Double-tap or swipe up — the scene's big moment: the monster lunges and roars, the ghost screams, the eyes blink out and return close, lightning strikes hard, the storm surges.
Swipe down — retreat: the monster sinks back into shadow, the ghost recedes, the storm dims.
Triple-tap anywhere — KIDS PANIC. Instant rainbow screen, every scary sound killed, nothing frightening reachable. Hold the button on that screen ~1 second to come back.
THE MONSTER
Face tracking runs only in this scene, on the front camera. The preview is never shown or projected.
It copies: mouth open (the maw, fangs and all), blinks — each eye separately, so wink — raised brows, smile and frown, head turns, nods, and head tilts.
Its pupils follow your gaze and narrow when it lunges. Its nostrils flare when the mouth opens wide. Cold breath fogs from its nose.
No face for ~12 seconds and it starts searching — slow head sweeps, looking for whoever left. Leave it longer at higher tension and the Hush comes: the storm dies, a heartbeat rises… and it lunges on its own.
Hold the talk stone and speak: your voice drops into a growl with a cavern behind it, and the jaw moves with your words.
WHAT MAKES IT SCARY (SO YOU CAN DRIVE IT)
Silence is the weapon. The scares land because of the quiet before them. Don't fire the big moment often — let Auto-Haunt and the scenes build dread, then strike once.
Unpredictability. Nothing in this show runs on a rhythm: strikes, knocks and lunges are all randomised. Never promise the audience a pattern.
The edges. Eyes open at the edges of the dark; silhouettes appear for a single lightning frame. People fear what they almost saw.
The Ghost only works if you wait. She gets closer so slowly the audience won't notice — until she's suddenly much too close.
IF SOMETHING'S OFF
Ember dot red / monster not copying: camera permission was denied, or the tracking model couldn't load (needs network once). The show still runs — the monster performs on its own.
No sound: unmute the phone and raise the volume; iPhone's silent switch mutes web audio on some versions.
Picture but the wrong thing projected: you want Screen Mirroring, not an app cast. Enter the show first, then mirror.
